Procurement Specialist
This is an exciting opportunity to join Vitaco’s Procurement team and take ownership of a portfolio of ingredients, packaging materials, services and suppliers. You’ll combine hands-on procurement with commercial and category management responsibilities, contributing to cost, quality, service and supply reliability.

About the Role
Reporting to the Operational Procurement Manager, you’ll manage an individual portfolio while working closely with suppliers and internal teams across Planning, NPD, Quality, Operations, Finance, Marketing and Warehouse Inwards.
You’ll join a vibrant, busy and supportive Procurement team of ten, with the opportunity to continue developing your procurement capability and potentially progress into a Senior Procurement Specialist role over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned procurement categories, materials and suppliers.
- Review purchasing requirements and ensure orders are placed on time.
- Proactively manage material constraints and supply risks.
- Lead sourcing activities, supplier evaluations and selected RFP processes.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, minimum order quantities and supply agreements.
- Identify cost-saving, cost-avoidance and value-improvement opportunities.
- Monitor supplier performance, market trends and category cost drivers.
- Support new product development by sourcing new materials and suppliers.
- Balance material availability with inventory, cashflow and obsolescence requirements.
- Maintain accurate supplier and procurement information within our ERP system.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- At least three years’ experience in procurement, planning, logistics or a related commercial role.
- Experience in supplier management and commercial negotiation.
- Exposure to category management or commodity buying.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and financial acumen.
- Confident communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Intermediate Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience using ERP or procurement systems.
Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, consumer goods, logistics or shipping would be advantageous. A relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Commerce, Business, Science or a related discipline, or professional certification such as CIPS, APICS or NZPICS, would also be welcomed.
