As our Operations Engineering Manager, you’ll drive excellence in business and operational processes, champion our Mini Business Units and deliver practical improvements across manufacturing, warehousing and distribution.

About Vitaco

At Vitaco, our vision is Empowering Healthier Lives.

We are one of Australasia’s leading health and wellness companies, employing more than 700 people across New Zealand and Australia. Our portfolio includes trusted brands such as Musashi, Nutra-Life, Healtheries, Athena and Balance, with products manufactured and distributed to customers across Australasia and more than 30 countries worldwide.

We’re incredibly proud to be the Best Places to Work™ 2026 winner in the Extra Large Workplace category, alongside our recognition as an HRD 5-Star Employer of Choice for two consecutive years (2025 & 2026). These awards reflect our commitment to creating a supportive workplace where our people can thrive.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager Operations, you’ll support the Operations Leadership Team by driving excellence in Business Process Management (BPM) and championing our Mini Business Unit (MBU) approach.

You’ll focus on standardising practices, embedding best-practice improvements and resolving process issues to enhance efficiency and competitiveness across our operations.

A key priority will be developing a metric-driven MBU framework that gives teams clear visibility of performance and supports ownership, engagement and continuous improvement. You’ll also ensure accurate line, labour and waste standards to provide a reliable foundation for operational decisions.

With no direct reports, you’ll deliver results through collaboration, influence and coaching—helping leaders and teams build the skills and routines to sustain improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, map and improve operational business processes, simplifying workflows, removing waste and enabling automation where appropriate.
  • Develop consistent process capture and documentation standards to support effective ways of working.
  • Champion the MBU programme, maintaining a clear framework with meaningful metrics to support team performance.
  • Coach MBU leaders and members to strengthen engagement, ownership and continuous improvement across the workforce.
  • Ensure accurate line, labour and waste standards to support performance measurement and improvement.
  • Identify and deliver practical process fixes, tracking improvement opportunities through to implementation and measuring results.
  • Identify and develop improvement champions, building capability through individual and group coaching.
  • Develop robust business cases for change and work across functions to gain commitment and embed improvements.
  • Demonstrate Vitaco’s values and promote safe working practices throughout all activities.

About You

  • Strong cross-functional influencing skills and the ability to engage people within and beyond your immediate area.
  • Demonstrated coaching experience, helping individuals and groups develop their own problem-solving capability.
  • The ability to use operational data and performance measures to identify opportunities and evaluate improvements.
  • Experience developing sound business cases and mobilising people to support change.
  • A collaborative approach, clear communication and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • A commitment to safe working practices and continuous improvement.
A relevant tertiary qualification, particularly a degree in Industrial Engineering, would be advantageous. Qualifications in Lean Six Sigma at Green Belt level or above and/or Business Process Management are also preferred.
