We're looking for an experienced NPD Technologist - Sport & Food to join our Product Development team and play a key role in bringing innovative food and sports nutrition products to market.
About the Role
Reporting to the Bar Development Manager, you will manage development projects from concept through to commercialisation, working closely with Marketing, Production, Quality, Procurement and external manufacturing partners to deliver products consumers love.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Manage new product development projects from brief through to commercial production
- Develop and optimise formulations that are commercially viable and manufacturing-ready
- Plan, conduct and document benchtop, pilot and factory trials
- Evaluate products against sensory, nutritional, quality, cost and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to troubleshoot technical challenges
- Prepare and maintain formulations, specifications, development reports and product documentation
- Support product innovation
- Ensure product labels, artwork and technical documentation comply with food regulations
- Contribute to continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives across the business
- Provide technical support for product issues, customer queries and complaint investigations
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in food product development
- Experience working within a food manufacturing environment
- Proven experience planning and executing pilot plant and factory trials
- Sound understanding of food regulations and food labelling requirements, including exposure to FSANZ
- Strong project management and documentation skills
- Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder management capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
Desirable
- Qualification in Nutrition or Sports Nutrition
- Experience developing sports nutrition products and /or nutrition bars
- Experience working with contract manufacturers
